It was an extraordinary visit of outgoing and designated Commander of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) to the Joint Warfare Centre in Stavanger, Norway. On 8th and 9th December 2009, MNC NE Commander Lieutenant General Zdzisław Goral, Polish Army, and his successor Lieutenant General Rainer Korff, German Army, met the MNC NE personnel during the ongoing Mission Rehearsal Exercise, the final step of preparations for the upcoming mission in Afghanistan.

It was already the 37th time when the representatives of three Framework Nations of Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE), i.e. Denmark, Germany and Poland, met during the Corps Committee Meeting, which was held in Szczecin on 23 and 24 November 2009. Additionally, members of the Participating States took part in the Plenary Session.

Danes are the first to celebrate Christmas

On 23 November 2009, the Christmas atmosphere filled up the Baltic Barracks. The Danish community of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) organised a traditional Jule-Glögg event to spread the unique Christmas magic.

Families getting ready for the mission

Not only the servicemen are preparing for the mission in Afghanistan, their families are doing so, too. On 21 November 2009, the Family Day was organised in Baltic Barracks to get familiarized with the idea of Family Care Centre which will assist the families of the deployed personnel.

An important part of the preparations for the mission in Afghanistan in 2010 is ensuring the continuity of running current business of the Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) here, in Szczecin. For that purpose, a Garrison Headquarters consisting of remaining military and civilian personnel had to be created. This particular structure was tested during the Baltic Assistance exercise, conducted from 16 to 19 November 2009.

FAT Eagle has landed in Baltic Barracks

The FAT Eagle exercise was the most important training event organised by Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) as a part of preparations for a final test at the Joint Warfare Centre in Norwegian Stavanger and the mission in Afghanistan itself. The exercise was held in Baltic Barracks from 2 to 6 November 2009.
